Sources of Fiqh

Some present only 4 sources of Fiqh: Quran, Sunnah, Ijma, Qiyas.

This presentation actually reflects the position of the people of Kalam.

The position of Ahl as-Sunnah is that there are 5 sources:

  • The Quran
  • The Sunnah
  • Ijma (community consensus)
  • The word of the Companions
  • Qiyas (analogical reasoning)

The 4 great Imams are unanimous on this.

Why this special place?

The Companions saw the Prophet ﷺ, learned directly from him, and Allah praised them in the Quran.

Their understanding of the texts reflects the direct understanding of the Revelation.

This site offers a theological and methodological reflection on certain contemporary ideologies claiming to represent Islam. It firmly condemns terrorism and all forms of illegal violence, and does not aim to incite hatred, violence, or any illegal action, but to exercise freedom of expression with respect and contribute to the debate of ideas in a critical and intellectual framework.
